Sarie Mackay
Raised in both upstate New York and Montana, Red Lodge author Sarie Mackay graduated summa cum laude
from the State University of New York at Fredonia with a degree in
English Literature and a Specialization in Professional Writing.
Pursuing a full-time career in the non-profit sector and raising a
family, she began creatively writing in the evenings and on weekends.
Her regional historical novel, Lodestar, which she self-published and obtained a distributor for in 2007, is now handled by Riverbend Publishing.
Her recently completed manuscript, a western romance entitled Fair Game, sketched in Montana’s legendary Judith Basin, is a tale of personal and moral dilemma from which redemption evolves. The alpha male wolf in Fair Game was inspired by Wolf No. 2, one of the earliest members of the Yellowstone Park wolf reintroduction project. While Sarie and her readers stay tuned for more news on Fair Game’s publishing status, she has commenced a new novel, The Family Plot.
Her grandmother was the youngest of ten children born on a homestead in Montana's Clark Fork Valley, ten miles from where Sarie now writes. Her intimacy with the land informs her work with the energy and texture of Montana and the West, and sweeps her characters along on their journeys of love, longing, and awakening.
