In 1999 Jennifer Lowe's husband Alex Lowe died tragically in an avalanche on the Himalayan mountain Shishapangma, leaving her alone to raise three sons. Alex was widely considered one of the greatest modern climbers and the world mourned his loss--Tom Brokaw did a one-hour special for Dateline, and Sting narrated and composed music for a tribute film.

While Jenni and her sons faced the absence of the most important man in their lives, Alex's best friend and longtime climbing partner, Conrad Anker, was dealing with the terrible loss as well as feelings of survivor's guilt. Jenni and Conrad gradually, and unexpectedly, found solace in one another and married in 2001--Conrad is now the adoptive father of the three Lowe children.

Through letters and expedition notes from Alex, Forget Me Not spans continents and tells the story of three people whose lives intertwine to a degree they could never have imagined. Jenni's account takes readers inside a woman's heart and mind as she navigates her shattered life and survives, ultimately finding transformative love through her great loss.

From the valleys of Montana to the peaks of the Himalayas, this never-before told story exposes the controversial yet ultimately redemptive power of love.

We are looking forward to Red Lodge author Mark Spragg's new book, Bone Fire,
with great anticipation! The release date is March 9, and we will
be having a big release party a few days later (Friday, March 12). Mark
will be joined by Cody author Laura Bell, and they'll sign books here
at the store for a couple of hours, and then we'll move a block down
the road to the Elks Club for snacks, readings, drinks, and general
gaiety.

Bone Fire follows the characters from Mark's previous book, An Unfinished Life, a decade later.

(We've read a pre-release copy of Bone Fire, and we loved it)

Cody author Laura Bell will be here with her new memoir, Claiming Ground. By turns cattle rancher, forest ranger, wife, and
mother, Bell vividly recounts her struggle to find solid earth in which
to put down roots. Brimming with careful insight, her story is a
heart-wrenching ode to the rough, enormous beauty of the western
landscape.

Local (Absarokee) author Dan Aadland is a student of American history, as a hunter, horseman, and former
Marine. As someone passionate about the West, Dan had long
felt a kinship with Theodore Roosevelt. One day, on a single-footing
horse, lever-action rifle under his knee, Aadland set out to become
acquainted with TR as only those who shared his experiences could. In Trace of TR: A Montana Hunter's Journey

documents that quest, inviting readers to ride along and
get to know Theodore Roosevelt through the western environment that so
profoundly influenced him.

Accompany Aadland as he rides the broad
prairies in search of TR's "prongbuck," tracks elk through the rugged
Big Horn Mountains, and pursues a glimpse of the grizzly in the
Absaroka Wilderness. Along the way the author's campfire musings and
reflections on Roosevelt's writings further deepen and enrich this
unique examination of our twenty-sixth president. With the trill of the
western meadowlark and the bugle of the elk, the creak of saddle
leather and the scent of sage, Aadland's journey takes readers into
TR's beloved Dakota Territory then and now, offering a kindred spirit's
moving, deftly drawn portrait of both the land and the man across the
space of a century.

Dan will be doing a book signing from 3:00 to 5:00, and then a talk about his adventures and Roosevelt at 5:00.

Local author J. D. Oliver has a new book out, called As the Eagle Flies. J. D. highlights the struggle between good and evil in all his work, whether it is novels, or the cowboy poetry he writes and performs. He was born in Montana, where his roots go back to the early 1800s.

In As the Eagle Flies, Clay Bronson is a product of the nineteenth century, half
white, half Cheyenne, neither fitting into the fast pace of the twenty first
century. As an ex-Navy fighter pilot, he returns to his roots in the Big Horns
of Wyoming where he joins his Father and Brother on the rodeo circuit. Then one
day their plane develops engine trouble and they make a forced landing in New
Mexico where they find their counter parts on a Spanish Land Grant. This is
where the story begins, as they follow the path of the Eagle, as they fly
toward their destiny.

J. D. will be signing books starting at 3:00, and giving a reading/talk at 5:00. We look forward to seeing you there!
